Broadway Then and Now
Join us February 8th! In Alexandria,VA!
This dynamic piano-vocal trio has been
entertaining Washington area audiences in both full concert and
after-dinner entertainment since 1995. Vocal versatility coupled
with masterful piano orchestrations enables this trio to perform the
wonderful music of Broadway, from Carousel,
Oklahoma and Brigadoon, to Les
Miserables, Phantom of the Opera and
Miss Saigon.
Both singers, with exquisite accompaniment of a
world-class pianist, display a vocal versatility that allows them to
perform an extensive repertoire from grand opera to Broadway.
Soprano, Beverley Benda completed coursework for the DMA in
Performance & Literature while on the faculty of the Eastman School
of Music, winning their prestigious Performer’s Certificate along
the way. She has appeared as soloist with such organizations as the
Rochester Oratorio Society, the Rochester Light Opera, the National
Cathedral Choral Society, the McLean Orchestra, the Greenville
Symphony, and the National Symphony Orchestra. She has appeared in
leading musical theater roles across the country. She has applied
her talents as well to CD recordings as well as film and TV
soundtracks, most notably the latest Star Wars film:
Phantom Menace.
Tenor Michael Ford, a native Tennesseean,
is a graduate of Austin Peay University and a favorite soloist in
the Washington, DC, area. He has performed major roles with such
organizations as the Arlington Metropolitan Chorus, the New Dominion
Chorale, the Washington Bach Consort and the Paul Hill Chorale. He
has also appeared regionally with the Chicago Symphony Chorus,
Knoxville Opera & Symphony, and the Brevard Opera. Michael has won
several competitions including the Annapolis Vocal Competition and
was Second Place winner in the Regional Metropolitan Opera
Competition.
Pianist Joseph Holt is an internationally
known performer and conductor. Dr. Holt has appeared in recitals
with orchestras in North America, Europe and the Middle East. He
has conducted such outstanding ensembles as the Wolf Trap Orchestra
and, as an arranger, has produced several multi-piano concerts, most
recently at the Kennedy Center. As concert pianist for the United
States Army Band (Pershing’s Own), he performs regularly for
official Washington functions and heads of states. Dr. Holt is a
Baldwin Concert Artist and currently Associate Conductor of the
Choral Arts Society of Washington.
Broadway Then & Now had delighted private and
corporate audiences such as The Aspen Institute, Meridian
Investments, and The Toronto Board of Tourism in venues ranging from
the Mayflower Hotel and Maison Blanche, to Strathmore Hall,
Constitution Hall, and The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
They assure a truly memorable and delightful evening with Broadway’s
greatest moments.
